Reductions of up to £743 at Spring Bank Holiday on villas with private pools

Savings of up to £743 on seven-night holidays to a choice of villas with private pools at Spring Bank Holiday have been announced by Vintage Travel.

The above reduction applies to week-long holidays in Casa Laguna near the coastal town of Fuzeta on the Algarve.  This smart, quirky property is full of character and ideal for those wanting more than a standard villa.   It sleeps eight in four bedrooms and in its extensive grounds of palms and olives, there is a large 13 metre private swimming pool, assorted open and covered terraces and two outside summer kitchens – one with a covered dining area and a pizza oven, the other with a built-in barbeque, a dishwasher and a wine cooler.  Seven nights from 26 May now cost £1055.

On the tiny unspoilt Greek island of Ithaca – just 18 miles from top to tail – is Naias, a welcoming house with commanding views over countryside to the Ionian Sea beyond. The property sleeps six in three bedrooms, each leading onto a terrace or balcony, and in its spacious grounds there is a private swimming pool, sun and dining terraces and a built-in barbeque.  The pretty cove of Kaminia is just 1.5 kms away and a drive of less than 10 minutes leads to the island’s capital of Vathry with its small shops and family-run tavernas.  Seven nights from 27 May now cost £1025 – a reduction of £353 – inclusive of return taxi from Kefalonia airport to the ferry port and ferry crossing as foot passengers to/from Ithaca.

Or, situated on a country lane and a 400-metre stroll Cala Sa Nau Bay on Mallorca, is Naveta, a traditional villa (sleeping six in three bedrooms).  This single-storey house is fringed by mature pines and shrubs and in its established grounds there is a private swimming pool, a poolside shower, open and covered terraces, a built-in barbeque and ping pong.  Nearby is Cala d’Or (4.3ms), with its three cove beaches, a swish marina and a vast choice of restaurants.  A week from 26 May now costs £1189, saving £335.

Flights and car hire can be arranged by Vintage Travel on request.

New for 2018: Idyllic Andalucía hideaway for couples from villa specialist Vintage

For couples seeking tranquillity, stunning views, a private swimming pool and no neighbours, villa specialist, Vintage Travel, reckons that Casa Rustica ticks all the boxes.

The property, new from the company in 2018, is an idyllic hideaway for two which enjoys panoramic views over olive trees to the inland lake of Embalse de Zahara backed by the Sierra de Grazalema Mountains.

Only at arriving at the cottage can the uniqueness of the setting be fully appreciated.  A series of country lanes lead from the typical Andalucía village of Algodonales from where a 1.5 km stretch of unmade road leads to the property’s entrance gates.

It is an ideal retreat in which to switch off, relax and soak up the views and this is echoed in the property itself with its rustic stone walls, a painted wood ceiling and terracotta flooring throughout.

In its extensive grounds of two and a half acres of olive trees, there is a private swimming pool with wooden decking and sun loungers, stone-clad open and covered terraces and a barbeque.

Places of interest to visit include historic Ronda (35 minutes by car), the lakeside castle-topped village of Zaharadela Sierra (seven kms) and picturesque Algodonales (two kms) with its local shops and restaurants.

A seven-night holiday leads in at £520, increasing to £1290 in peak season.  Flights and car hire can be arranged by Vintage Travel on request.

Book Now or Miss Out: Med Villas for 2018

Villa specialist Freelance Holidays has made 90% of its properties ready to book for 2018, citing a bumper 2017 season and highlighting properties that, says managing director Paul Fogg, “will sell out early thanks not only to their size and style but to their location.”

Freelance Holidays is unusual among villa companies in allowing any day arrival at virtually all properties, even in peak season, making it easy for customers to mix and match with low-cost flights to create great value holidays of varying durations, from five nights to 9, 13, 17 … any length of stay!

Paul’s top tips to book early for 2018 include:
On KEFALONIA, Villa Penelope, Villa Odysseus and Villa Anna Maria. They sit together – but orientated away from each other – on a finger of the Liakas peninsula, with footpath access down to a natural level platform for a dip in the Ionian Sea. Each also has – of course – a private pool, and spectacular sea views.  Anna Maria was completed in 2016; but Penelope and Odysseus welcomed their first guests only in May, so that photographs of the finished villas were not available until late on in the booking season.

“Now the pictures do these luxurious properties justice, peak season dates will be snapped up by Christmas,” forecasts Paul. “All three villas sleep up to six in three ensuite bedrooms, making them perfect for families with older children.”

2018 prices (the same for each villa) start at £229 per night, rising to £759 per night in peak season.

On CRETE’S north-west coast, Villa Argiro is also tipped to book early. This tastefully restored village house is comfortable rather than luxurious, but the location ticks all the boxes. Not only is it in the heart of a real community, but it is less than 1km from the pretty resort of Almerida, where two gently-shelving sandy beaches fly a Blue Flag.

“The village square, with a choice of tavernas and a minimarket, are a couple of minutes’ stroll away and Almerida’s superb beaches are little more than 850 metres down the hill,” says Paul.  “Argiro offers outstanding value for families, with a peak week only £2359 for six people, and off-season rental from only £118 per night!”

A recently-added 8m x 5m private pool is the reason Villa Paxaco on MALLORCA will be hugely popular in 2018. With Roman steps for easy access, and a shallow corner section for young children, the property is also all on one level, making it a great family villa. The location – not more than six kilometres from both Pollença Bay and Alcudia’s old town – is also excellent.  2018 rates start at £125 for the whole villa, which sleeps six, rising to £285 in peak season.

In all cases, the price is for the whole villa, and excludes flights and car hire.

New: Villa in Gers in France, the land of good living and good food…

Vintage Travel, specialists in villas with private pools, is highlighting the Gers area of south west France for the first time, with the addition of Blanche d’Armagnac, an elegant villa sleeping 12.Blanche d'Armagnac

Gers is one of the sleepiest areas of France and is the land of good living and excellent food and wine.  As well as peace and culinary specialities, there are picturesque towns and villages, all set in tranquil rolling countryside of vineyards and fields of sunflowers.   Auch is the capital of the area and has an impressive cathedral and vibrant centre with cafes and restaurants.

Blanche d’Armagnac has carefully been restored – retaining wooden beams, the original fireplace and a wrought iron balustrade – and now has a chic kitchen, an open-plan living area with French doors leading to the garden, six bedrooms (two en suite) plus an additional two bath/shower rooms.

In its parkland grounds of lawns and wooded areas there is a private swimming pool and a large dining terrace.

Nearby is the village of Fources (three kms) which is classed as one of France’s ‘most beautiful villages’ with its square surrounded by beautiful half-timbered houses.  The larger towns of Condom and Nerac – both on the River Baise – are also within easy reach.

A seven-night holiday in August is priced at £3096, or from £1296 in September.

Flights, ferries and car hire can be arranged Vintage on request.
