“Easter marks the start of the busy hire season on Britain’s canals,” says managing director Nigel Richards, “and there are some fantastic deals on weekends, midweek breaks and full weeks to suit all school holiday dates”.

With discounts, a week’s hire of a narrowboat starts at under £1000, with Oscar 2 on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal now £850 for seven nights from 13 or 20 April (saving £149), while Snowdrop on the Grand Union Canal is £950 (saving £105) for seven nights from 13 or 20 April and Firefly on the North Oxford Canal is now £995 (saving £320) for a week starting 6, 13 or 20 April.

Waterways Holidays Cuts Family Holiday Prices for Easter

Families are invited to take advantage of an exclusive discount on Easter holidays, courtesy of the leading boating holidays agency, Waterways Holidays.

“We’re cutting the cost of a family holiday with 20% off the hire of Broads cruisers from Potter Heigham this Easter,” announced managing director Nigel Richards.

“The deal applies to any boat hire – short breaks or a full week – between 27 March and 16 April, by any family that includes a child aged five to 16 years of age. The discount also applies to teachers who are tied to school holiday dates,” said Richards.

For families, a week’s holiday on a Broads cruiser from Potter Heigham is reduced to as little as £504, saving £126 on the hire of Evesham Light. This 30-feet long cruiser has a double cabin for Mum and Dad, a single bed and seating in the saloon that converts into a further double, so the boat sleeps up to five people. There’s warm air heating, a bathroom with shower, wash basin and flush wc, and a well-equipped galley. The only extras are fuel used during the week and damage waiver fee.

Alternatively, a luxurious Supreme Light cruiser ideal for two couples, has a massive saving of £238 on a week’s hire (now £952, when one of the hirers works in education). The modern cruiser has bow and stern thrusters to make steering this 35-feet long boat easy, and satellite tracking to receive Freesat TV channels. Of course it has warm air heating and there are two bathrooms onboard.

In a week’s hire from Potter Heigham, holidaymakers have time to explore the whole of the Broads, now marketed as Britain’s 15th National Park.

Children must be present on departure along with proof of age. Teachers must offer proof of employment.
