Single Travellers Take-off on New Holidays with Friendship Travel

Two brand new holidays for single travellers take off this month. Friendship Travel is Hosting its first guests at the five-star Galini Wellness Spa and Resort in Kamena Vourla on mainland Greece on 19 May, with a week’s all-inclusive from only £989.

That includes a double room for sole occupancy (no single supplement to pay), as well as flights to Athens from Stansted, transfers and the support of a Friendship Travel Host, plus all drinks and sociable meals.

The seafront hotel enjoys a fabulous spot facing across the bay to the island of Evia. Facilities include thermal and freshwater pools, a superb spa, restaurant and two bars. The little resort of Kamena Vourla features seafront cafes, a promenade and hot springs, and is a great base for trips to Evia or to the ancient site of Delphi.

After the 19 May holiday, subsequent dates are in September. As well as Stansted, flights are available from other London airports, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

On 23 May, the first group departs to Palermo in Sicily – also new for 2019 – where guests are Hosted at the centrally-located Cristal Palace Hotel on a seven-night package that includes a hop-on-hop-off sightseeing tour of the city, a full day’s excursion to Mt Etna and a day at Mondello beach.

As always, each single traveller has his/her own double room at no extra coast. Breakfast every day and three dinners at the hotel are included, and on a fourth night the group enjoys a guided walking tour of Palermo’s foodie haunts, grazing at street food stalls along the way.

Prices start at £1199 from Stansted for this fascinating combination of sun, sights and sea, all Hosted by a Friendship Travel representative. Subsequent dates are in June, July and September. Other London airports are also available, as are flights from Liverpool and Dublin.

Other holidays for single travellers in May include Bodrum and Side in Turkey, the Greek islands of Zante, Rhodes and Skiathos, the Costa Brava, Mallorca and the Algarve.

5-star Food Heaven for Singles with Friendship Travel

Sociable singles operator Friendship Travel hosts its first holiday at The Raga Side on 4 May, the first of a season-long series of small group holidays at the highly-regarded Turkish five-star.

Prices start at just £995 for seven nights including flights, transfers, sole occupancy of a double room (no single supplement), all meals and drinks, and the support of a Friendship Travel Host throughout: outstanding value!

The 187-room hotel was re-invented as an adult-only all-inclusive in 2018, with an emphasis on good food and drink.

Menus showcase fresh local ingredients, including seafood, with plenty of variety including Turkish, Italian, French and international dishes. Waiter service and cook-to-order stations are a world away from the tepid buffets of many all-inclusives.

There are three bars across the property, with drinks by the glass ranging from fresh juices and speciality coffees to premium branded spirits and international wines.

The stylish refurbishment of the hotel has created excellent facilities: two outdoor pools, its own beach bar with sun-beds and parasols on Side’s superb west beach (no more than 300m away), a nightclub with regular live acts and DJ, a gym, free WiFi in public areas and a spa with hammam (at extra cost).

Historic Side, where the Temples of Athena and Apollo stand beside the Med, along with the remains of the Roman market, the bath-house and Byzantine palace, are a short taxi ride away.

Friendship Travel operates weekly departures to The Raga every Saturday from 4 May to 19 October 2019, with seven and 14-night packages available.

Easter Escapes for Single Travellers

Friendship Travel has home and away options for single travellers looking for an Easter break, and there’s no single supplement to pay on either of them!

For those with just the bank holiday weekend spare, a three-night package at the four-star Donnington Valley Hotel, Spa and Golf Club in leafy Berkshire starts on Good Friday and, as with all Friendship Travel breaks, is Hosted by at least one of its experienced representatives.

The modern hotel’s facilities include a superb indoor pool, gym, and wide range of health and beauty treatments in the spa, as well as an 18-hole parkland golf course. Country walks, 10-pin bowling and a fun Easter egg hunt are other options, though there is no pressure to join in and those who simply want to relax in a sociable environment can do just that.

The package, which costs £420, includes a standard double room for sole occupancy and half board. Of the three dinners, all include wine with the meal and one is a black-tie event followed by a disco. The break ends after breakfast on Easter Monday.

Single travellers looking for spring sunshine should find it on Mallorca with a seven-night holiday departing 17 April to the H10 Casa del Mar hotel. This stylish four-star is set on Santa Ponsa’s seafront promenade, just yards from the sandy beach. The hotel has not only a ground-level general pool but an infinity pool on the adult-only roof-top terrace.

This small group holiday is offered from £945 (from Stansted) for a package that includes flights, transfers, seven nights in a double room for sole occupancy, breakfast each day and five dinners with wine – enjoyed around one or two large tables – during the week. Regional options include Bristol from £892 and Manchester from £905.  Prices/availability correct at date of issue.

8 Solo Ski Options from Friendship Travel this winter

Friendship Travel is offering solo skiers the chance to ski in eight European resorts this season, including two exclusive chalet houseparties in France.

All seven-night prices are based on guests enjoying their own room with no single supplement to pay, and include flights, resort transfers, breakfast every day, afternoon tea every day and dinner with wine on five evenings, as well as the support of chalet staff.

Novice and intermediate skiers are recommended to book one of the two exclusive houseparties, which also include six mornings of ski school, for either ski or snowboarding, within the package price.

The two exclusive houseparties are Chalet Maya in Alpe d’Huez, where a week’s skiing, with lessons, starts at just £839. The chalet offers simple accommodation in a traditional alpine chalet sleeping up to eight guests.

Chalet Refuge et Lodge is the exclusive houseparty in Serre Chevalier, where a week’s skiing, including lessons, costs from £1035, with a Christmas departure from £1186.

Other resorts where Friendship Travel offers singles skiing based in larger hotels include St Christoph in Austria, Meribel, La Plagne, Val d’Isere, Tignes and Les Deux Alpes in France.

“I’m a skier myself, and like many travel entrepreneurs, my early days in the industry included repping in the Alps,” says Friendship Travel’s founder and managing director Colum McLornan, “and that experience has helped to shape our programme for single skiers.”
