May Half Term Waterside Breaks

There’s still time to bag a prime location for May Half Term – a lakeside cottage or lochside glamping pod from watersidebreaks.com which specialises, exclusively, in holiday homes on or close to Britain’s lakes, lochs, rivers and coasts.

For example, literally ON the Norfolk Broads is The River Lodge, a floating holiday home at Horning on the River Bure. The two-bedroom log cabin-style house sleeps four in comfort, has its own boat mooring (with boat hire available nearby), expansive water frontage and is currently available at just £595 for seven nights starting 26 May.

Within the Cotswold Water Park region, one of the New England style lodges on Spring Lake is available for four nights starting Bank Holiday Monday 28 May at £1120. This outstanding timber-clad house sleeps six in three bedrooms, and overlooks Spring Lake where watersports – including waterskiing – are offered. The open-plan living space is light and bright thanks to floor to ceiling glass doors opening onto the furnished sundeck that literally overhangs the lake.

And in Scotland, a cluster of eco-friendly geodomes overlook Loch Tay for a fabulous countryside experience, with three nights starting Monday 28 May just £225 for two adults, with additional children charged at £10 per child per night.  Each dome offers a double bed, with children accommodated on camping mattresses: a real glamping adventure! The private estate offers 140 acres of ‘great outdoors’ running down to the north shore of the loch. Onsite facilities include shower and wc facilities, a bar and restaurant, as well as a host of outdoor activities on and beside the water.

2018 Waterside Breaks in England’s other Lake District: The Cotswolds!

Which corner of England boasts 150 lakes, a host of outdoor activities and is also a haven for wildlife?  It’s not Cumbria. It’s not Norfolk. England’s other Lake District is a peaceful spot on the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire border known as the Cotswold Water Park!

WatersideBreaks.com is the leading portal for booking short breaks and longer holidays in the Cotswold Water Park region, but the company says this amazing destination is misunderstood by those who have not yet visited.

“Some people think this wonderful location is a water themed holiday park where all the rides are watery ones, which could not be further from the truth,” says managing director Tim Wells.

“In fact the Cotswold Water Park covers forty square miles of countryside and as well as 150 lakes, includes three Country Parks and pretty villages like South Cerney and Ashton Keynes. There are over 100kms of public footpaths, cycle trails, a man-made beach, water-sports and outdoor activities galore, plus a superb variety of holiday accommodation,” says Tim.

High quality holiday home developments range from contemporary glass-fronted lodges to New England-style townhouses and welcoming Scandi-style lodges.  All holiday homes have one thing in common: close proximity to the water. Most properties enjoy lake views, while some are right beside, or even over-hanging a lake!

Depending on which lakeside development is chosen, rental may include membership of facilities such as a spa, swimming pool, children’s playground and club-style restaurant. Others are perfect for anglers, being on well-stocked fishing lakes. Many holiday homes are dog-friendly.

Facilities open to all include the Gateway Centre cafe and Lakeside Pizzeria & Gelato, as well as bars, restaurants and leisure options at a hotel within the Park, plus country pubs in surrounding villages.

Many of the park’s public spaces are managed by the Cotswold Water Park Trust, which also looks after five nature reserves in the park. Seasonal highlights thousands of over-wintering water-birds, spring-flowering fritillaries and glittering dragonflies in summer.

Anyone – especially families – looking for a 2018 holiday will find the perfect property at WatersideBreaks.com which offers dozens of holiday homes across the Cotswold Water Park region.

“Our experience – and the fact that we offer such a range of properties across the whole region – helps us to make unbiased recommendations, matching the right holiday home to each enquirer,” says Tim.
