‘Small party’ deals on villas with private pools from Vintage Travel

With peak season now behind us, Vintage Travel – specialists in villas with private pools – is offering small parties the option to stay in one of their larger houses at considerably discounted prices.   Guests do, of course, still have exclusive use of the property and grounds, but can enjoy the extra space  provided by a bigger villa.

As an example of ‘small party discounts’ a week in October in Casa do Eido da Deveasa – a magnificent eight-bedroom property near the riverside town of Ponte de Lima in Portugal – is priced from £1998 for up to 18 guests.  However, parties of up to eight can enjoy a week’s stay at this 17th century property for £1598, a discount of £400.   Facilities at the villa include a private swimming pool, a poolside shower, lawns and open terraces, table tennis, a badminton net, plus a sauna and small gym.

In Aveyron in South West France is Soulages, an impeccably restored four-bedroom stone house which enjoys breathtaking views over tree-clad hills and the deep river valley below it.  A week in October for eight guests costs from £1086, but for parties of up to four the price is £732, a discount of £354. The villa has a games room with top quality gym equipment and in its landscaped grounds of 2.5 acres there is a private heated swimming pool, a poolside gazebo and dining terraces,

Small party discounts are also available at more modestly-sized villas such as Can Jomil, situated in the ‘picture-postcard’ scenery on the Catalan coastline on Spain’s Costa Brava. This light and spacious three-bedroom villa costs £898 for parties of six during October, while parties of up to four pay from £598, a discount of £300. The villa has a private pool, open and shaded terraces and a built-in barbeque.

Flights and car hire can be arranged by Vintage Travel on request.

Crete villas down to £60 per night; temperatures up to 24C by day

Uncrowded beaches, empty roads, sleepy tavernas and daytime temperatures up to 24 degrees in October – that’s the forecast from Freelance Holidays which specialises in individual villas with pools.

“The weather is superb – not too hot to enjoy walking in the Samaria Gorge or sightseeing at Knossos – and at 22 degrees the sea holds its summer warmth, while flights are cheap and you can rent a private villa with pool from as little as £60 a night,” says managing director Paul Fogg.

Freelance Holidays encourages customers to mix and match low-cost flights with its ‘any day arrival, any length of stay’ policy at villas, to deliver the best possible value.

The company’s range of private villas with pools includes Villa Lithos, only 35 minutes’ drive from Chania airport.  There are superb views over the sea, just 500 metres away as the crow flies, from the lawns around the salt-water pool, and from the balconies of two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping six, Villa Lithos is recently built, which means a modern kitchen and good plumbing, but traditional styling, with cushioned Cretan sofas in front of an open fire, beamed ceilings and a covered dining terrace with built-in barbecue and its own traditional oven.

The tavernas of Megala Chorafia are an easy stroll away, the nearest beach is within a winding 10 minute drive and Chania’s historic harbour is only 20 minutes.  Nightly rental of Villa Lithos in October is now just £74, making a seven night stay for six people only £520, saving £130.  Flights and car hire excluded.

Other discounted villas for October include Villa Ionaida, quietly set on a wooded slope below the village of Douliana, with the little beach at Kera 20 minutes’ walk down the valley.   Sleeping up to five in two bedrooms, this compact villa with private pool now costs only £415 for a week in October, saving 40 per cent on normal rates – that’s just £60 per night.
