AFFORDABLE peak season self-catering chalet holidays in the French Alps…

Family activity specialist, Zenith Holidays, is highlighting a selection of self-catering chalet holidays in the French Alps which are transformed in the warm summer months into an adventure holiday playground featuring pursuits ranging from white water rafting to via ferrata.

Locations on offer include Morzine, an atmospheric alpine village with a beautiful mountain backdrop situated in the heart of the Portes de Soleil, close to the Swiss border.  Activities are endless and include mountain biking, para-gliding, rafting, golf and hiking.

Featured properties in Morzine include Chalet Ellen which sleeps up to 12 people in five en suite bedrooms.  The living area is open-plan and there is a sauna, ideal for relaxing after a busy day having fun.  A short stroll leads to the centre of the old part of Morzine with its restaurants, bars and small shops and boutiques.

As an example of peak season prices, a seven-night self-catering holiday starting on 28 July or 4 August costs £1250 inclusive of accommodation with bed linen and towels and a return Dover/Calais ferry crossing for one car and passengers.  The same holiday, but starting on 11 August costs £1000.

Six-day pre-bookable activity packages are available with Zenith which include one rafting session, one via ferrata session, plus free access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, free chairlifts to hiking trails, use of tennis courts and ice rink and discounts for summer sledging.

Family ‘learn to surf’ holidays in South West France…

Family activity holiday specialists, Zenith Holidays, is highlighting its ‘learn to surf’ weeks aimed at families who would like to learn the sport or who are looking to improve their technique.

The surfing packages take place at Moliets – with its immense beach bordered by sand dunes and pine forests – and consist of five sessions of two hours under the guidance of a professional surf instructor and all the necessary equipment such as a surf board and a wet suit.

During the week, in addition to learning to surf, guests will also learn more about the ocean (currents, tides, sand banks and the environment) which contributes to becoming a safe and educated surfer.

As an example of price, a seven-night peak season holiday starting, for example, on 28 July, costs from £453 per person, based on a family of four sharing, inclusive of ‘the learn to surf’ package, a return Eurotunnel crossing for car and passengers, cycle hire and accommodation in a self-catering apartment at the Moliets Holiday Village.

This pedestrianised holiday village extends down to the sea and facilities include swimming pools, golf, tennis and restaurants.

Kids Go Free on PGL Family Adventure Breaks this Easter

PGL is offering free places for children aged five to 18 on all its Family Adventures during the Easter holidays, if booked by 5 March.

For each full-paying child on a two-night, four-night or seven-night Easter break, a second child is completely free, saving between £139 and £399 per child.

A range of start dates are offered between 23 March and 13 April at six adventure centres in Perthshire, Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.

For example at PGL’s Liddington adventure centre in Wiltshire a two-night break starting Saturday 31 March includes up to six different activities  over the weekend, plus family-focused evening fun, along with simple but ensuite accommodation in a family room and all meals. Each adult pays £179, the first child £159 and a second child is completely free, saving £159. (Separate rooms for adults and children are also available at a supplement.)

Alternatively, for families with just one child, the child price is discounted by 30%.

Children as young as five are usually able to tackle all the activities on offer over the weekend. Two, three and four year olds are welcome, and are free but are too young to participate and – as PGL does not offer crèche facilities – a parent must be responsible for such youngsters at all times, which will impact on their ability to take part.

To take advantage of the offer, quote EAS18 when booking by 5 March.  http://pgl.co.uk/en-gb/family-adventures/special-offers/free-child-places-this-easter-1

New for 2018: PGL Family Adventures on the Suffolk Heritage Coast

PGL will open a new adventure centre on the Suffolk Heritage Coast in 2018 and will offer both Family Adventure breaks and Summer Camps for unaccompanied children at Bawdsey Manor.

The new centre is near Woodbridge, less than two hours from the M25 and a similar drive time from Cambridge. The impressive 144-acre estate at the mouth of the River Deben includes a private beach.  See Bawdsey Manor drone footage filmed prior to PGL purchasing the estate.

The beautiful house was built between 1886 and 1895. Its ornamental gables, octagonal towers and terraces have earned it Grade II* Listed status and the extensive grounds include other Listed buildings and gardens. Owned by the RAF during the Second World War and throughout the Cold War period, Bawdsey Manor was an important radar research centre.

After PGL’s transformation programme this winter, Bawdsey Manor will offer a superb range of activities for 2018 including archery, abseiling, canoeing, climbing, fencing, rifle-shooting, a giant swing and zip wire, Jacob’s ladder, a high-flying trapeze plus orienteering and beach safaris.

As well as acres of playing fields, Bawdsey Manor has an indoor sports hall and a games room, dining room and lounges.

For families with children as young as five, PGL will offer seven, four and two-night multi-activity holidays and breaks. A seven-night holiday starts from £489 per adult/£409 per child; a two-night weekend break starts from £179 per adult/£159 per child.  In both cases this is based on sharing an ensuite family room and includes all meals, activities, equipment, instruction and family-friendly evening fun.

Unaccompanied children aged seven to 16 – accommodated separately from families – will be able to choose between multi-activity breaks and a ‘love to learn’ Cook’s Academy themed week.

Multi-activity weeks start at £599 per child; a Cook’s Academy holiday is £699.  Includes accommodation, all meals, activities, equipment, instruction, supervision and evening fun.
