Peak season villas with private pools ‘just for two’…

Villas with just one bedroom that offer a private swimming pool are hard to find, so specialist operator, Vintage Travel, is delighted to be able to offer a selection of such properties to couples that are restricted to taking their holidays in peak season.

These include Casa Francigena, a country retreat for two nestled on the hillside above the medieval town of Bolsena – and the lake of the same name – in the  Lazio region of Italy.

Floor-to-ceiling patio windows line the entire length of this stylish villa.  These lead to a covered terrace with views over the garden – home to a hexagonal-shaped private swimming pool and a built-in barbeque – to the olive grove beyond.  Bolsena, with its restaurants and cafes, is just two kms away and a scenic drive around the lake reveals pretty villages such as Marta, Capodimonte and Montefiasco, renowned for its white wine. A seven-night holiday from 18 August is priced at £1250 (saving £200) or £1350 from 25 August (saving £100).

Or in the small town of Orgiva in the undiscovered Alpujarras region of Spain, is Casa Encantadora.  This smart property sleeps two in one bedroom and its slightly elevated position means that the lawned garden looks across rooftops to the mountains beyond.  In its grounds there is a private swimming pool, a poolside shower, a covered dining terrace and a built-in barbeque.

This is the perfect place to explore the picturesque Alpujarras; there a myriad of ancient roads ideal for walking or cycling, head south to the stunning mountain scenery to coastal Salobrena (a 30-minute drive) or, for a spot of culture, the ancient Moorish city of Granada is just 55 minutes away by car.  A week from 18 August costs just £898.

Flights and car hire can be arranged by Vintage Travel on request.

New from Vintage Travel…a restored beachside water tower in Andalucia

A quirky, restored three-storey stone water tower – just a ‘hop, skip and jump’ from the beach at Fuente del Gallo in Andalucia – is the latest offering from villa specialist, Vintage Travel.

La Torre de Fuente del Gallounique is a unique coastal home, full of character and charm and sleeping six in four bedrooms.   On the first floor is the south-facing sitting room and on the second is the principal en suite bedroom – both enjoying stunning ocean views.

On the ground floor is the kitchen – opening on to the dining room with its partly exposed circular stone walls – along with three bedrooms which overlook the garden in the more conventionally designed wing of the building.

In the enclosed grounds of lawns and terraces there is a private plunge pool with Roman steps and a built-in barbeque.

Everything is on the doorstep; the wide expanse of Fuente Gallo’s beach – great for paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling – is just 220 metres away and the nearest restaurant is within 100 metres. The fishing village of Conil (two kms) is home to a wider range of shops, bars and restaurants.

As an example of price, a seven-night holiday in August 2018 costs from £2398 or from £1198 in September or £798 in October.
