  1. Venue Holidays, has expanded its choice of campsites in The Vendee, with Camping le Clarys Plage making its debut in 2018. The campsite – situated four miles of St Jean de Monts – is the perfect location for a family-friendly holiday with its many facilities including a spectacular swimming pool complex with a lazy river, water slides and numerous fountains, plus a 10-metre high ‘Space Boa’ water slide. A stroll of around 400 yards leads to the nearest sandy beach.  A seven-night holiday in a two-bedroom mobile home with decking in May is priced from£200, increasing to £1020 in peak season.     2.         On offer from Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire for the first time in 2018 is  Bentonville, a newly-built detached holiday home perched above the beach at Freshwater East and with its own hot tub and swim spa.     3.         Villa specialist, Vintage Travel, has expanded its portfolio of properties with private pools.  Additions include Quinta dos Castanheiros, a magnificent villa in the Minho, Portugal,  set in 10 acres of private woodland and sleeping 10 in five en suite bedrooms. The villa is situated outside the hamlet of Rebordoes, three kms from Ponte de Lima.  Its considerable extension has created an elegant home with two sitting rooms, a superb dining room, a beautifully equipped kitchen and a games room.     4.         Zenith Holidays is featuring its multi-activity family holidays in Croatia in 2018 offering rafting, hiking, swimming and cycling along the Mreznica River, through the Plitvice Lakes National Park and to the Una River in Bosnia.  This seven-night holiday – on offer between June and September – is based at the Hotel Zeleni Kut, a family-run hotel on the banks of the Mreznica.  Peak season prices are from £685 per person based on two adults and two children over 12 years of age in two rooms on a half-board basis.     5.         Villa specialist Freelance Holidays has expanded its choice of holiday homes on Crete to more than 60 for 2018, adding characterful villas with private pools in Stylos, Rethymnon and Plaka.  For example, newly-renovated Villa Vangelis offers outstanding value for a couple, with an additional twin to sleep four if wished. Stone-built, it balances rugged character with modern facilities in a standalone spot with far-reaching views. A week’s rental starts at just £693, making this two-bedroom property more than good value even for a couple! Freelance Holidays allows any-day-arrival at virtually all properties, even in peak season, making it easy to mix and match low-cost flights to create holidays of any length of stay.   1. Sociable singles holidays specialist Friendship Travel has three new holidays for summer 2018. It is one of the first UK companies to feature newly-renovated Sea Breeze Beach House in Barbados and its first Hosted holiday there takes off on 24 February, with eight, 11 and 15-night holidays available, from £2995. In Portugal, the company has added the coastal town of Olhao in the Ria Formosa National Park. The seven-night holidays offer 5-star luxury and value with excursions on four days included and prices from £1135. The third new holiday is an exclusive charter of a traditional gulet to sail around the Ionian Sea from its home port of Zante.   1. Irish Ferries’ new €144 million cruise ferry W.B. Yeats will start to sail between the UK and Ireland in September 2018. Currently being built in Germany, it is expected to weigh in at 55,000 tonnes, making it the largest to operate on the Irish Sea. Fabulous facilities will include a Club Class lounge with direct passenger access from the car decks, à la carte and self-service restaurants, a cinema, a shopping mall, a choice of bars and lounges and an outside promenade deck. There will also be 441 cabins, including luxury suites with their own private balconies. Before going into service on the Holyhead to Dublin route, W.B. New for 2018: PGL Family Adventures on the Suffolk Heritage Coast

PGL will open a new adventure centre on the Suffolk Heritage Coast in 2018 and will offer both Family Adventure breaks and Summer Camps for unaccompanied children at Bawdsey Manor.

The new centre is near Woodbridge, less than two hours from the M25 and a similar drive time from Cambridge. The impressive 144-acre estate at the mouth of the River Deben includes a private beach.  See Bawdsey Manor drone footage filmed prior to PGL purchasing the estate.

The beautiful house was built between 1886 and 1895. Its ornamental gables, octagonal towers and terraces have earned it Grade II* Listed status and the extensive grounds include other Listed buildings and gardens. Owned by the RAF during the Second World War and throughout the Cold War period, Bawdsey Manor was an important radar research centre.

After PGL’s transformation programme this winter, Bawdsey Manor will offer a superb range of activities for 2018 including archery, abseiling, canoeing, climbing, fencing, rifle-shooting, a giant swing and zip wire, Jacob’s ladder, a high-flying trapeze plus orienteering and beach safaris.

As well as acres of playing fields, Bawdsey Manor has an indoor sports hall and a games room, dining room and lounges.

For families with children as young as five, PGL will offer seven, four and two-night multi-activity holidays and breaks. A seven-night holiday starts from £489 per adult/£409 per child; a two-night weekend break starts from £179 per adult/£159 per child.  In both cases this is based on sharing an ensuite family room and includes all meals, activities, equipment, instruction and family-friendly evening fun.

Unaccompanied children aged seven to 16 – accommodated separately from families – will be able to choose between multi-activity breaks and a ‘love to learn’ Cook’s Academy themed week.

Multi-activity weeks start at £599 per child; a Cook’s Academy holiday is £699.  Includes accommodation, all meals, activities, equipment, instruction, supervision and evening fun.

PGL Kids’ Activity Breaks at Half Term: up to 50% off!

Half term boredom is banished by PGL, which has a choice of residential breaks for children aged seven to 16 across the UK – and the last-minute special offers mean that the more children you book, the more you save!

Send one child on a seven-night multi-activity holiday and save 30% on brochure prices; send two and save 40%; book three children onto the same holiday – whether that’s three siblings or just friends – and save a massive 50% on the original holiday price!

For example, at Windmill Hill in Sussex seven nights from 21 October usually costs £499 per child.  One child will now pay £349.30, two children will now each pay £299.40 and three children will each pay just £249.50.

This deal, and those prices are also available at Osmington Bay in  Dorset and at Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire.

At PGL’s 250-acre estate in Shropshire, Boreatton Park, seven nights from 21 October usually costs £509 per child.  One child will now pay £356.50, two children will now each pay £305.40 and three children will each pay just £254.50.

October Half Term PGL Family Adventures: Kids now from £99

October half term is the last chance this year for adventurous families to have fun at PGL, with a choice of two- and four-night breaks at four of the UK centres – with discounts for adults and kids alike.

Two-night weekend breaks are organised in Dorset, Wiltshire, Shropshire and Lincolnshire, with start dates of 20 and 27 October to suit all school holiday dates.

As an example of price, adults now pay just £109 (saving £56), and children five to 18 years pay £99 (saving £46) for a two-night break at Caythorpe Court in Lincolnshire starting 20 October, when sharing an en-suite family room. The new deal means that a family of two adults and two children save a massive £204 on their break!

The same prices and savings apply at Liddington in Wiltshire on 20 or 27 October, at Osmington Bay in Dorset on 20 October, and at Boreatton Park in Shropshire on 20 or 27 October.

Four-night mid-week breaks at the same centres now cost from £209 per adult (saving £96) and from £179 per child (saving £76), again based on sharing a family room, and representing a huge saving of £344 on a family of four!  Start dates are 23 and 30 October.

In all cases, the break includes simple accommodation, either in a family room with en-suite shower/wc, or (at a higher price) separate rooms for parents and children; plus all meals and action-packed days tackling – as a family – activities ranging from the skills of archery and fencing to the thrills of the high-flying trapeze and zip wire. All specialist equipment and instruction is also provided.

Evenings are full of family-friendly fun, and as well as extensive grounds all centres have plenty of indoor space with lounges and a bar so that parents can enjoy a well-earned glass of wine!

Last Week of the Summer: Save up to 60% at PGL
