New Houseparty for Single Skiers: Friendship Travel

Sociable singles holiday company Friendship Travel has added a second Ski Houseparty to its 2017/8 winter programme.

The company now has two chalets that are exclusively for single travellers, both Hosted by Friendship Travel staff.

The additional chalet is in Serre Chevalier, in the heart of the resort’s Villeneuve ski village. Chalet Refuge & Lodge provides accommodation for up to 12 single skiers for six weeks of the season, including Christmas, with departures on 23 December 2017, 20 and 27 January, 10 and 17 March 2018.

The package starts at £1075 and includes flights from Gatwick to Turin, transfers, a single room, breakfast and afternoon tea each day, dinner with wine on five evenings, and six mornings of lessons in the resort’s ESF school (ski or board).

Holidays are Hosted by Friendship Travel staff, who in addition to catering and offering an informal ski-mapping service provide the social ‘glue’ that ensures all guests feel at home in the chalet and in the resort, including organising après ski activities.

The other exclusive Ski Houseparty is in Alpe d’Huez, where an identical package at Chalet Maya costs from £1050.

“The Houseparty format proved particularly popular with novice skiers, who all wanted us to organise lessons for them, so this season we are including them in the package.

“This, along with the fact that our single skiers don’t have to pay a hefty single room supplement, makes our Houseparties outstanding value,” says Friendship Travel’s founder and managing director Colum McLornan.

Friendship Travel also operates ski holidays in seven other European resorts, where single rooms are available in chalets shared with other guests.

Expanded range of Christmas Escapes for Sociable Singles

Friendship Travel has increased the number of Christmas escapes it offers for 2017, reflecting a growing trend among single travellers to break with family tradition and opt for a sociable break with people their own age.

“Christmas 2016 was a sell-out,” says founder and managing director Colum McLornan, “and it’s clear that more single people aged 40 plus are saying ‘no thanks’ to invitations from family and friends and choosing to please themselves instead.”

Dunchurch Park Hotel in Warwickshire has been introduced, taking the number of Christmas breaks in England up to four. The country house hotel dates to 1903 and has impressive public areas, open fires and cosy bars. It is set in 72 acres of grounds and the village pub is within 10 minutes’ walk.

This new break costs just £295 for a package starting on Christmas Eve and ending after breakfast on Boxing Day. Half board is included, with wine at Christmas Eve dinner and at Christmas lunch. (Stay until 27 December and pay £395.)

Like all Friendship Travel holidays, this is Hosted by an experienced member of staff, not only to liaise with the hotel team, but ensure that all guests quickly feel welcome and at home.

Short breaks to Northern Ireland, Barcelona and Marrakech also operate at Christmas.

Those looking for winter sun have a choice of five short-haul destinations: Cyprus, Malta, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Boa Vista in the Cape Verde islands.

As an example of price, the seven-night Christmas departure to Malta, with four nights at Le Meridien St Julian Hotel & Spa followed by three nights on Gozo at Ta’ Cenc, costs from £1195 including flights, transfers, some meals and sightseeing.

Single travellers looking for a white Christmas have five ski holidays to choose from, two more than last year. Christmas ski weeks lead in at £895 including flights, transfers and sociable chalet-board.  Friendship Travel’s exclusive Ski Houseparty for single travellers at Christmas costs from £1095.

Long haul destinations with Christmas departures are to Cuba, St Lucia and Kenya.

All prices quoted are based on guests enjoying sole occupancy of a standard double/twin room, and include the services of a Friendship Travel Host or representative.

Turkey ‘on the up’ says Friendship Travel

Friendship Travel, the holiday company for sociable single travellers, has added an extra date to its season of Hosted holidays at the five-star Garcia Resort and Spa at Oludeniz in Turkey.

“We’ve seen lots of late demand for our singles holidays to Turkey,” says founder and managing director Colum McLornan, “thanks to squeezed capacity in the western Med and Turkey’s better-than-ever value.”

The additional departure date of 11 September is now available from £987 for a seven night all-inclusive holiday, to include:

  • Flights from Gatwick (regional departures available)
  • Generous baggage allowance
  • Airport transfers
  • A luxurious double room with sea view, for sole occupancy
  • All meals, snacks and drinks
  • The support of a Friendship Travel Host

The Garcia Resort opened in 2014. The 151 rooms all enjoy a distant sea view, and the outstanding facilities include five swimming pools, four restaurants, two bars, a spa and gym, as well as laid-back day and evening entertainment.  The hotel occupies a beautiful hillside location, backed by pinewoods that lead on to the Lycian Way walking trail.  The Blue Lagoon is a (free) two kilometre shuttle bus trip way.

New Serre Chevalier Ski Holiday for Singles

Sociable singles holiday company Friendship Travel has added a second exclusive Ski Houseparty to its winter programme, following the successful introduction of a singles ski chalet last season.

The Chalet Refuge & Lodge provides accommodation for up to 12 single skiers in adjoining chalet-apartments in the heart of Serre Chevalier’s Villeneuve ski village.

Friendship Travel will operate Chalet Refuge & Lodge as an exclusive Ski Houseparty on six departure dates in the coming season:  23 December 2017, 20 and 27 January, 10 and 17 March 2018.  Guests have use of two comfortable lounges, and a welcoming dining room where everyone eats together.

Friendship Travel’s package – with prices starting at £1075 – includes flights from Gatwick to Turin, transfers, a single room, breakfast and afternoon tea each day, dinner with wine on five evenings, and six mornings of lessons in the resort’s ESF school (ski or board).

Flights from regional airports also available and a couple of twin rooms offer the option for single skiers of the same sex to share at a lower price, from just £895.

All holidays will be Hosted by Friendship Travel staff, who in addition to catering and offering an informal ski-mapping service provide the social ‘glue’ that ensures all guests feel at home in the chalet and in the resort, including organising après ski activities.

“Our first exclusive Ski Houseparty last season – in Alpe d’Huez – was a great success,” says Friendship Travel’s founder and managing director Colum McLornan.

“The format was particularly popular with novices, who all wanted us to organise ski school for them, so this season we are including ski or board lessons in the package.  This, along with the fact that single skiers usually have to pay a hefty supplement, makes our Houseparties outstanding value.”

Friendship Travel also operates ski holidays in seven other European resorts, where single rooms are available in a chalet shared with other guests.
