Kilkenny’s Yulefest with Irish Ferries…

Hop on a ferry to Ireland for a Celtic Christmas market and come home with a car full of unique Irish gifts – and no baggage charges either!

Irish Ferries’ top tip for pre-Christmas shopping with lots of festive fun is Kilkenny’s Yulefest which has something to see every day in December in this lively medieval city that’s approximately 90 minutes’ drive from either Rosslare or Dublin ferry ports.

As well as an indoor ice-rink at Cillin Hill and an illuminated Christmas market at Butler House, there’s a pop-up Made in Kilkenny shop at 76 John Street selling locally-crafted gifts including beautiful jewellery and ceramics.

The city’s Parade Plaza will also come to life giving the opportunity to view the city streets and lighting from a giant Ferris wheel, enjoy a gallop on an antique carousel or browse through the bespoke Christmas Market for quality craft and gift ideas.

Add weekend street entertainment, food stalls and seasonal concerts and it’s easy to see why Kilkenny draws visitors from all over Ireland.

For those who fancy joining in the fun, a three-night winter weekend self-drive package costs from £271 per person based on two people travelling together in one car by cruise ferry, and sharing a double room with a full Irish breakfast at the Pembroke Hotel, a boutique four-star on Patrick Street.
