Pedal the ‘slow lane’ in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia with Zenith Holidays

Activity  holiday specialist, Zenith Holidays, reckons its Istrian Coastal Tours tick all the boxes for cycling fans keen to experience sun, sea, glorious countryside and history on two wheels instead of four.

These seven-night holidays – available between now and the beginning of October – begin in historical Trieste then travel southwards out of Italy, through Slovenia and into Croatia passing through unspoilt quaint hilltop and seaside villages, small towns, fertile valleys and picturesque vineyards.

Highlights in Slovenia include the villages of Izola and Piran plus the affluent spa town of Portoroz and the vast salt plains of Secovlje.

Once in Croatia, high spots include the medieval walled towns of Umag, Porec – with its 6th century Euphrasian Basilica – the fascinating and picturesque Brijuni Islands, and Rovinj, one of the last true Mediterranean fishing ports.  The journey ends in Pula home to the sixth largest Roman amphitheatre outside Rome.

Average daily cycling distances are around 35 kms – so there is plenty of time for relaxation and sightseeing – and luggage is transferred between hotels.

Twin share prices range from £738 to £778 per person inclusive of accommodation with breakfast in three and four-star hotels, bike hire,  a backup service hotline, and information pack with a road book and maps, a personal welcome meeting and briefing on arrival.

Flights and transfers are not included but Zenith is happy to advise or arrange.
