New for 2018 from Vintage Travel: Balarin set in the grounds of a 16th century French chateau…

For large families or groups of friends who like to holiday together – but require an element of privacy and independence – villa specialist, Vintage Travel, reckons that Balarin in South West France ticks all the boxes.

Balarin comprises of two cottages – sleeping a party of 14 in total – which are set in the large parkland grounds of a 16th century chateau near the bustling market town of Montreal in the department of Gers.

The two properties – Wisteria sleeping eight and Rose sleeping six – are furnished with exquisite taste and sit either side of the private avenue which leads to the Château.  Each has its own terrace but there is plenty of space to dine alfresco together.  A stroll across the garden leads to a private, fenced swimming pool surrounded by a large terrace for sunbathing.

As an example of price, a seven-night holiday for both cottages starts at £1458, increasing to £3122 in peak season.

Sightseeing opportunities are endless in Gers – one of the sleepiest areas of France – and ‘must sees’ near Balarin include the picture-postcard village of Fources, the picturesque riverside towns of Condom and Nerac, along with numerous vineyards, Armanac cellars and farmers’ markets.

Flights, ferries and car hire can be arranged by Vintage Travel on request.
